Disabling Command Processor Extensions

The function of this setting is to control if command extensions are enabled or disabled. In case command extensions are used they modify the behavior of various standard command processor functions such as CD, MD, DEL, PROMPT and SET.

  • Open your registry. Find the key that is below.
  • Create a new DWOED value. It is called "EnableExtensions". Then set it "1" if you want to enable extensions or "0" to disable them (default is enabled).
  • The command extensions involve changes and/or additions to the commands that follow:

DEL or ERASE
COLOR
CD or CHDIR
MD or MKDIR
PROMPT
PUSHD
POPD
SET
SETLOCAL
ENDLOCAL
IF
FOR
CALL
SHIFT
GOTO
START
ASSOC
FTYPE

If you want to get specific details, type commandname/? to view the help.
