NewsFacebook is the one site on the internet that is probably the most used. The amount of Facebook users are increasing dramatically on a daily basis. The computer security of Facebook is reaching alarming heights and Facebook users should be aware of the growing computer security concerns. Inclusive in the Facebook security concerns is fake profiles. Facebook is currently being flooded with fake profiles. Due to the huge daily registration rate on Facebook, it is hard to keep track of who is a regular user and who is a Facebook fake. It has recently been discovered that over forty percent of new Facebook profiles are actually fake. The question that may be asked is why are people setting up fake Facebook profiles? The fake profiles are generally set up by a combination of either spammers or various malware and virus writers. Once the fake Facebook profiles are set up and in existence, the virus writers then proceed to persuade users to click on links. These links are not authentic and the majority of the time will take the user to malicious and dangerous sites.
Facebook does have an extremely clear and precise policy with regard to fake profiles. According to Facebook and its policy a fake profile will be deleted when the Facebook teams becomes aware of it. Fake profiles are causing huge problems for many innocent Facebook users who have genuine profiles. The factor that spammers and virus writers are using fake Facebook profiles to their advantage means that people will stop at nothing in order to get people online to do what they want. Computer security in general is a great concern to all internet users worldwide.

It is interesting to note that besides people creating fake Facebook profiles for the usage of malicious purposes or spam, people create fake Facebook profiles of celebrities and actors all the time. If you are a regular Facebook user and do a search for a celebrity of your choice, chances are very likely that this particular celebrity has a Facebook profile. The question that arises is if this a genuine Facebook profile or is it a fake? The majority of the time there is no real way of telling. It can thus be said in conclusion: Don't take everything on Facebook at face value.

Because then, they befriend everyone they can, and then when they have a new product they tag spam (tag as many people as they can) so it shows up in their profile... even worse is, if its my friend that is tagged but im not a friend with this company I can still see them.
So 100 friend with a company, if each of them have 100 people, that's 10,000 people seeing the post.
I keep telling my friends not to befriend these, but no one cares... because "what's the problem".... grrrr. With distant friends I can just drop them, but family that I want to have on list is annoying.
So I specifically search for "shop" and other names in their friends lists and report them all as "this profile does not represent a real person".
If you want to help, do a PEOPLE search for "shop", usually these shops will have other shops on their friends lists. Report as many as you can! And stop this spam menace!
If there wasn't the possibility for someone to have the surname "shop", I would have written a script to crawl and report all of these anyway.

The fake girl I was talking to for a year called herself Shawna Russel,and used many other names such as Alison Stiles, Sara J Wilkins, Amy Sheradin, Kelly Gram, Missy Stevens etc.. she did all the fake conversations back and forth and told some crazy stories. I even got messages fro her ex boyfriend Derek M Hall and brother Brad telling me how I needed to help her with all her emotional/drug problems. She claimed to be from Brantford Ontario but after a year of lies it turns out she was stealing the pics from girls living in Massachusetts. After I found that out I actually found the real girls(they wore shirts like UMass Amherst class of 08 so it was easy to find them) and let them know what was going on. Apparently she was using some of their pics for over 4 years.
Most of those profiles have now been deleted but I know she is still doing it, I have been getting messages from an obvious fake named Kalina st clair, Missy Stevens changed to Melissa Stevens and then that changed to her being from Englund and it goes on and on. Anywaythe girls real name is Zabrina Richard and she is married to to a guy named Junior, they are fromWaterford Ontario. I know for a fact it's her because they actually admited it to me and met up with me, even though they lied about why they did it until I found out the truth. She has either deleted or hid her facebook profile and her husbands too because people were starting to message him about it too

I was led on by one particular faker for a year who has been (and still is) faking pictures of another girl for 2+ years. I only found out about it after a friend of mine recognized the girl in the pictures as a friend of one of his real life friends.
This person went by Heatherlea Pavetto, Heatherlea Marie, xxxheatherleaxxx, xoxheatherleaxox, and a DOZEN other names as each one was deleted by the real girl on Myspace and Facebook. What really baffles though is the length this faker went. Not only was she faking this girl in particular, she was faking ALL of the girl's friends on Myspace and Facebook. Men and women. She made fake accounts for each and every one of them and had them "talk" to each other to make her profiles seem more real. So if you add them all up all her fake accounts, deleted and current, she probably has been running 50+ fake accounts.
It's sickening what some people do to live out their fantasies online.
