Number 1 Viruses of the Day: MH690 aka Win32.Hupigon Coming to the Stage

virus_computer.jpgHere's a second article from the new series of articles called "Number 1 viruses of the day". In this series I will try to provide you with a list of most of the prominent malware and describe one of the viruses in detail. In my last article I warned you against the RAHack virus. This time I'll introduce you to the Trojan called MH690 aka Win32.Hupigon.

But first of all let's have a look at the list of viruses that were most often detected by VirusTotal in the last 24 hours:

Threat Detections
Suspicious.MH690.A 7267
W32/Virut.n.gen 5647
W32/RAHack 4300
Vundo.gen.ab 2397
W32/Sality.gen 1624
Vundo.gen.ao 1303
W32/YahLover.worm 938

Table 1.  Top Threats of the Day

As I've already mentioned, the time has come to talk about the MH690 (or Win32.Hupigon) virus, the most frequently found infection by VirusTotal in the last 24 hours. Many antivirus vendors detect this type of malware as a backdoor Trojan - a program that allows malicious users to remotely manipulate affected systems.

MH690 (or Win32.Hupigon), of course, doesn't propagate automatically. It penetrates a system as a dropped by other malware or downloaded by unsuspecting users, file. When executed, it sends the victim's information to the hacker. It can gain control of your system through remote access, which can pose security threats. Malicious users can execute remote commands and exploit your system as much as they want.

Below you will find other alias names of the MH690 (or Win32.Hupigon):

It is essential that you use reliable antivirus software to avoid virus infections such as MH690 (or Win32.Hupigon). Of course, don't forget to keep your antivirus up-to-date and keep an eye out for my next article about the "Number 1 viruses of the day".

NAV also pikes parts of my Cygwin installation when it thinks they're getting out of line. Now it's flagged onsgmls.exe as "Suspisious MH690.A", and won't let me keep it unless I disable this scan altogether. Fine product.

I honestly don't think this is a virus at all if you take a look at Symantic's web page it says that there is a new scanner tech in place that detects fails that are morphed altered in some way Yesterday I purchased Devexpress 9.3 and installed it and Norton piked it up as Suspicious.MH690.A now how can this be...? I have no clue but people are saying Norton Products suck and have install problems and Detection issues no offense. and not only that I am also starting to see more of this message pop up the more I update Norton's with there 10 min updates that they do every so often.

Suspicious.MH690.A what i did to get rid of it was and i am not saying this will work for everyone. my room mate had this virus and what i did was, i shutdown the service of norton antivirus for like 2 days (2 days because i was lazy and had other things to work on) and i uninstall personal security software and then restarted norton 360 and it seemed to work fine, the virus has shown up since i have started norton again.
