It is important to apply the Microsoft patches as soon as possible in order to have a safe and secure browsing experience. Depressingly, it seems as soon as one patch becomes available, a new vulnerability is discovered, and so the endless cycle continues. It has recently been brought to the general publics' attention that Internet Explorer users who are making use of Flash Player as well as Shockwave player are vulnerable and at risk, at this current point in time. It is fantastic for computer users worldwide to know that two updates have been released in order to specifically target the vulnerability which was discovered in Microsoft's Active Template Library. This library is used to build components that are geared for certain web applications. These could potentially become a major target for online attackers in order to take over and gain complete control of various users' machines used to, unknowingly, browse infected websites. One update (MS-09034) was released to fix the vulnerability in Internet Explorer which was rated as critical. It is directed at and was made for all Microsoft Internet Explorer users, therefore it also applies to Internet Explorer 6 users. Some of the files of the vulnerable Internet Explorer 6 include: ACPI.BAT, APM.BAT, BCT.BAT as well as BCT9A.BAT. The next update is geared for Microsoft Visual Studio users. It has been rated as moderate and has a tendency to affect Microsoft Visual Studio versions 2005 and 2008. The files of Visual Studio include: ActiveDir.vb and analyze.exe. Microsoft has finally released the emergency patches that were very much needed. They were released late last month, with all intents and purposes to fix the deep dark hole which was hovering in Microsoft Internet Explorer. The vulnerabilities were making malicious activities for online attackers much easier to perform.
