You do not have to work with technology in order to appreciate it. Technology is one of those things that can be enjoyed by everyone everywhere, regardless of race, class or income. It has advanced to such vast degrees that we can only wonder what will be available for us in ten years time. One aspect of technology that has shown increasing advancements in a relatively short period of time is multi media. A company that provides top of the range services in this regard is BlazeVideo. Unfortunately with such wonderful products also comes some not so wonderful news which is that some products of BlazeVideo are prone to computer security vulnerabilities. Let me begin by telling you about the two products that are vulnerable to this vulnerability. The two products which have been confirmed to be vulnerable are the BlazeDVD Professional 5.1 version as well as the Blaze Video HDTV Player 6.0 version. It is vital for all users to be aware of the factor that other versions may also prove vulnerable, but at this current point in time these are the two products which have been confirmed as vulnerable. Lets look at BlazeDVD Professional 5.1. Now it is important to note that it has a standard version, but the professional version is the one that the vulnerability has been confirmed in. The professional version has more advanced features as opposed to the standard version. BlazeDVD is a wonderful DVD player which also supports the popular Blue ray media files. With the use of BlazeDVD 5.1 you are able to watch DVDs on your own home theater system, on a desktop or laptop with top quality speed as well as performance. Now let me move onto the Blaze Video HDTV Player 6.0. This is a remarkable HDTV player which has a variety of wonderful features. It includes HDTV playback, Fm receiving, video recording as well as DVD playbacks. It also serves the purpose of acting as your very own multi media and entertainment center. It supports a VDC, DVD, SVCD, MP3, MPEG as well as Pictures playback. Now to get down to the vulnerability that is affecting these wonderful products. It has recently been confirmed that BlazeDVD Professional is at risk of a buffer overflow vulnerability that malicious online attackers may take complete advantage of. A malicious online attacker could exploit this vulnerability in order to execute arbitrary code. Alternatively a malicious online attacker could execute a denial of service attack and cause complete havoc. There is no relevant solution available at this point at time, but there is the possibility of one emerging fairly soon. In the meantime this vulnerability takes the peace of mind out of enjoying your own home entertainment system in the comfort of your own home. |
