Assisting You With MyContentAssistant

If you had to choose the most annoying thing that you experience when surfing the net, what would you choose? I know what I would choose and I am sure that many people would agree with me. If I had to associate the word "annoying" with the internet, one thing comes to mind, without even having to think about it. The thing that annoys me the most about surfing the net, is annoying pop-ups. They just keep popping up and irritating me, they seem to be everywhere. If pop-ups irritate you, then I strongly suggest that you stay as far away from MyContentAssistant as possible. Annoying pop-ups are just one of the symptoms of the malicious infection.Stay_away_from_MyContentAssistant.jpg

What exactly is MyContentAssistant? It is a rogue antispyware application. It is generally installed through holes in the security of your web browser, or alternatively it may get onto your machine with Trojans. MyContentAssistant is executed with every Windows startup. If you think you have heard it all and it doesn't sound too bad, unfortunately it doesn't end there, there is more. MyContentAssistant will cause fake security warnings to appear. This means that you may get all types of warnings with regard to virus's threats and infections that may be on your system. The truth of the matter is that everything that you are being warned about is actually not on your system. The only thing that is on your system is MyContentAssistant, which is producing these fake security warnings. The purpose of these fake security warnings is to trick users into purchasing the full versions, which are not real.

This is all one malicious money making scam, that has been designed by malicious characters in order to obtain your money. They count on the factor that the majority of people, won't even think twice when being warned that they have extremely dangerous threats and viruses running on their machine. They also count on the factor that if they then provide you with a quick and easy solution to your problem, in the form of a full version promising to remove everything, the majority of people will purchase it. To provide you with some technical details MyContentAssistant is associated with a number of files including:

File
MD5 Hash
setup.exe cd928f8f3699c92caf6a293d853d723b
GDC.exe 5977404c9e315057f29bf49ceae5d702
GDCPatch.exe ad29f8f5fbf268e74af88843044375da
IH.exe 2c8ad067056970934e2cda7a8d5cf0d5

MyContentAssistant is extremely hard to remove. You are probably wondering why it is so hard to remove? Unfortunately it is able to recreate itself even after you have removed it. This means that even after you have taken the time and the effort to remove it, you will reboot your machine, expecting a clean operating system. The truth is that your machine will not be clean because the infection is able to regenerate itself on startup. MyContentAssistant is definitely a tricky and malicious antispyware application.

You can attempt the manual removal process but this is not recommended. This is due to the factor that if you are a not a computer guru and don't know your way around your machine, the chances are that you may damage something. It is also suggested that, if you are going to attempt the manual removal process, you back up all your data just in case something does go wrong.

How to remove MyContentAssistant manually:

You will need to stop the following MyContentAssistant system process:

  • GDC.exe

You will need to remove the following MyContentAssistant files:

  • Uninstall MyContentAssistant.lnk
  • MyContentAssistant web page.lnk
  • MyContentAssistant unregistered.lnk
  • GDC.exe
  • MyContentAssistant

You will need to remove the following MyContentAssistant registry value:

  • MyContentAssistant

There is in fact another option for you that will save you the time and effort of manually trying to remove MyContentAssistant. This option also minimizes the risks involved and will not damage your machine, the way the manual removal process might if something goes horribly wrong. This option is for you to get a hold of a decent antispyware removal program that detects and removes MyContentAssistant from your system. A decent antispyware product will help get rid of MyContentAssistant by scanning your system and detecting it. It will then show you what it has found on your machine and give you the option to remove it. Whichever removal method you choose, I wish you the best of luck. Remember MyContentAssistant is not something you want on your machine, so if you get it remove it quickly before it causes more damage.
