Alpha Antivirus Is Looking For Victims

Is Alpha Antivirus a program that everybody should have on their systems? Of course, its creators will answer that it is one of the most important programs to have if you want to keep your PC secure. However, my answer to the question is completely different. You should definitely prevent this program from entering your system! Alpha Antivirus is one of the most recent rogue anti-virus applications causing its victims great damage.

The appearance of Alpha Antivirus is somewhat similar to that of other popular rogue programs, including Personal Antivirus. There are two ways you could catch it. Firstly, Alpha Antivirus could enter your system via various Trojans and other malware. The other way you could catch it is while visiting unreliable websites that are actually loaded with lots of malware.

If downloaded successfully, Alpha Antivirus is able to load at startup of Windows into memory. As a result, it becomes rather difficult to manually remove it from an infected system. The first thing Alpha Antivirus performs after installation is a fake computer scan.

Here you can see a screenshot of this scan:

After the scan Alpha Antivirus starts displaying annoying warnings reporting the presence of viruses that can allegedly damage your confidential data. All you have to do in order to remove these threats from your system is buy the full version of Alpha Antivirus. However, don't get trapped because it won't resolve any security problems on your PC.

Let's now move on to more precise information concerning Alpha Antivirus. As is the case with other malware, Alpha Antivirus comes with certain files that need to be deleted in order to remove it from an infected system. Therefore have a look at the following table with files, file sizes and MD5 signatures related to the rogue program:

Don't become the next victim of this malicious application. Remember that Alpha Antivirus is not capable of detecting and removing neither real nor fake parasites. Moreover, it will slow down your system performance and allow additional malware to sneak into your PC.

Hey, I got it too, but I ended up getting rid of it. Be patient and figure out how to remove it from a different computer thats not infected, and eventually you'll get it. Good luck :/

Ok, so I've already had the Alpha Virus before. Those (I want to say a bad word) People who make those dang viruses just tried to trick me again!!!! Here's a way to recognize the stupid thing: A window will pop up looking like it is sent from you pc saying "Your system is in danger of rougue malware!" then it will direct you to a site. One way to recognise this site is if it has a ton of viruses on the list saying "High" or "Critical" Things like trojans and worms and what not. DON'T LISTEN TO THIS. If you click on erase files, it will say "Run or save this file?" DO NEITHER!!!!! If you save OR run the file, it will direct you to the Alpha site. One way I recognized the window this time was the font. It is a bit like...er...Bold. I almost fell for it but I got lucky...LEARN HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF BEFORE BEING DIRECTED TO ALPHA'S BOGUS SITE!!!!!!!!!

Finally got alpha antivirus out of my system - my odyssey: (1)after ending the alpha.exe process and downloading SpyHunter from Enigma (thereby freezing up windows), (2) I went into safe mode and did a system restore to the night before and (3)then my ad-aware by lavasoft quarantined the alpha thing...later I went into ad-aware and removed the quarantined crap

Alpha Antivirus is also disguising itself under other names now too! Any program that looks like this needs to be deleted with care. If you do not do it correctly, you may end up ruining your operating system and needing a complete reinstall, happened on a coworker, I work in IT.

First! Kill the process in task manager under processes or you cannot remove it at all. Try to do this in SAFE MODE, although some computers I have worked on will not let you into it, but try. You will probably have to manually remove every little part of it and there are tons of sites that do have step by step directions for removal. It is complicated, so have a techy friend help you out if you are not familiar with editing the registry, etc.
The only program that I have found that will kill it is Malwarebytes and it is FREE. You do not need to pay for it, use the free version. Most of the time you cannot get it to install so you will need to manually remove at least some and let the program clear the rest out for you.

For fire rox users, All you have to do is uninstall the firefox "completely" and redownload firefox via internet explorer and that should solve this problem.

My infection started when Alpha Antivirus downloaded itself without permission (like Kellie) but instead of it not being in the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM list it's there but when I click "REMOVE" it says it's locked and it won't remove it! Help!

My husband has this on his laptop. It blocks his internet access, won't uninstall, and we can uninstall it from "add/delete programs.

Can you send me the removal package so I can send it to him and "fix" it for him. He's afraid to turn his computer on!

Thank you, jonna

Have the alpha anti virus problem with my computer.
Kritin September 28, 2009
this downloaded itself onto my computer as well. wtf??
Kellie September 28, 2009
This stupid alpha antivirus program downloaded itself without permission to my computer, and it now prevents me from getting onto the internet for most sites I use on a daily basis. Very frustrating! And it hides well, so it doesn't show up in the add/remove program list, meaning it's almost impossible to get rid of. Very cranky!
