Yesterday I introduced you to the latest rogueware from the Winisoft family, BlockWatcher or Block Watcher. Today I would like to get into a deeper analysis of what this program is doing and where it has come from. As most of the malware from this well-known family, BlockWatcher manages to sneak into your personal computer even though you might not be aware of that. This usually happens as you visit some malicious sites promoting this fake software, or try to download a video codec. Besides, you can be infected if you trust the site promoting the product and click on the "Download now" button. I advise you to be extremely careful and never do that. You will ask me why. My answer is: BlockWatcher is more of a virus rather than a tool to aid you. I will try to explain that to you. Image 1. BlockWatcher Fake Scan Together with the installation process of BlockWatcher, backdoor Trojans make some changes on the Windows Registry. The viruses make the software launch automatically every time you boot your computer up. After that, scans which are simulated in advance start threatening computer users. At this stage, the system recognizes a bunch of infections on your machine. In addition, pop-up warnings start annoying you and threaten to purchase the full version of BlockWatcher. However, don't get into traps. This application is created by hackers who try to hide their identity. Let's take a look at them more closely. Although the site whois.com does not provide any information on the domain b-l-o-c-k-w-a-t-c-h-e-r-d-o-t-c-o-m, according to their IP - 212.175.87.195 - the real location of the hackers, who created this rogueware, is the capital of Turkey, Ankara. It also looks like BlockWatcher is associated with Mr. Mustafa Aktul. You can try to reach him on this phone number: +903124439388. All in all, BlockWatcher might do a great damage to your computer, including the reduction of the speed on your machine, disabling to enter some sites on the Internet and many other changes. So beware and don't rise to the bait of these evil hackers. Follow our site and read our next article on BlockWatcher.
