WiniSoft (aka WiniGuard) rogueware family is not yet dead! Last Friday we finished our research of BlockWatcher - a new fake security application aiming to trick you and get some money out of you. Today the time has come to introduce you to a newly-born brother (or sister) of BlockWatcher and it is called BlockProtector. BlockProtector (also known as Block Protector), similarly to its siblings SoftBarrier, BlockKeeper, ShieldSafeness, and about 35 other very similar programs, can reach the system without your knowledge and consent. This can be done with the help of Trojan applications that manage to sneak into the computer and drop rogueware onto the infected system. BlockProtector can also be downloaded from its website b l o c k p r o t e c t o r . c o m; however, I'd highly recommend you not to go to this site. When on the system, BlockProtector acts in a similar way to other fake applications in this family. First of all it starts scanning your system and, of course, finds hundreds of terrible infections that can destroy your computer. Have a look at the following screenshot with BlockProtector performing its malicious activities: All you have to do now is buy the full version of the program. However, don't get trapped because BlockProtector won't resolve any security problems on your PC. It can neither detect, nor remove any viruses from the infected system. The only aim of the developers of this rogue is to steal your money! Therefore, stay alert and keep an eye out for my next article with more screenshots and technical information on BlockProtector. |
