NewsThe story of PcsSecure is not yet over! Yesterday I warned you to stay away from this fake security application, being spread by the developers of Winisoft rogueware family. Today I'd like to continue my research and provide you with the analysis of PcsSecure website and illustrate its malicious activities with a short video. First of all let me remind you that Winisoft rogues can enter victimized systems either with the help of Trojan applications (i.e. they secretly can drop PcsSecure on the system) or a potential victim can download the program from a malicious website. In this case it is p c s s e c u r e . c o m. As you can see in the following screenshot, as soon as you visit this website, you'll see that it advertises Virus Protector. Trust neither PcsSecure, nor Virus Protector! Image 1. PcsSecure website According to the information provided by whois.com, the registrant of this malicious PcsSecure website is located in Bahamas. However, according to the IP address of the website - 85.12.25.111 - the real birthplace of the malware is in the Netherlands. Once again, all these misleading tactics just prove the fact that cyber criminals are doing their best in order to trick as many computer users as possible. When on the system, PcsSecure starts performing its malicious activities that not only annoy victims but also have the ability to destroy their computer systems and corrupt their important information. My experiment has shown that the analyzed rogueware really can slow down computer performance. Have a look at the following video that illustrates malicious activities of the rogueware:
Video 1. PcsSecure malicious activities I hope all this information will help you to protect your PC from PcsSecure. Remember that this fake security program can do nothing good. It can neither detect malware, nor remove viruses from your system. The only purpose of its creators is to compromise your system and steal your money. Therefore, watch out! On Monday I'll provide you with the results of the analysis of PcsSecure installation file and we'll find out together if reliable anti-virus applications can detect this file as malicious. |
