Showing Windows Version on Desktop
Early Windows versions displayed the version number on the desktop. Thus, this feature has been removed in the released version. Moreover, this modification is used in order to enable the feature and allow you to locate quickly which version of Windows is running. Take the following steps introduced below:
- Open your registry;
- Find the key listed below;
- Create a new DWORD (or String on Windows 98 and Me) value, or modify the existing value, which is called 'PaintDesktopVersion';
- Then, set the value to equal '1' in order to display the version.
- Exit the registry;
- Finally, you might be asked to restart your computer for the change going to be effected.
